Photoshop on iPad Gets ‘Edit Image Size’ and Livestreaming Support

Photoshop on the Desktop got most of the major goodies in today’s announcement, but Adobe didn’t forget about the iPad version. The company dropped a modest update to the tablet photo editor, adding Image Size control and the ability to Livestream while you edit.

With so much being added to Photoshop on the Desktop—including some serious AI-powered features like Neural Filters—the updates to Photoshop on the iPad don’t really get the blood pumping, but they’re important all the same.

First and foremost, Adobe has added the ability to Edit Image Size to the app. While you’ve been able to transform images just fine before now, it wasn’t possible to dial in the dimensions, resolution or sampling of your PSD files until this update. Now, you can, and the interface is identical to the Desktop version you know and love.

You can dive deeper on this feature here.

The other big update is the addition of Livestreaming support, which allows you to stream your editing workflow to the Behance community or watch other people’s past editing videos through the Discover tab.

You start a stream by clicking on the Export menu in the top right, then Start Streaming. Once you’re set up, you can use your iPad’s camera or the chat window to interact with whoever is watching live, and toggle the camera on and off as needed. We’ll be curious to see if this feature takes off, especially since Adobe promises to “moderate and post” the best recordings in the gallery on Behance and inside the Photoshop app.

Check out the feature in action in the demo below:

That’s it for Photoshop on the iPad. Two important, if slightly overshadowed, updates on the first day of AdobeMAX.

If you want to learn more about these updates, head over to the Adobe Blog. And if you want to hear more about everything Adobe has in store now that MAX is underway, just refresh the PetaPixel homepage. We have a feeling there’s gonna be a whole lot of Adobe there this week…
