Oppo A54 5G surfaces in Japan, will be released in June

Oppo’s quest to launch as many affordable 5G phones as possible is still ongoing, and the latest device that has that honor is the A54 5G. This model has been listed by Japanese carrier au, and we have to say it looks a lot like the already announced Oppo A93 5G.

The key difference we see between these two is the fact that while the A93 5G has a triple rear camera system, the A54 5G goes with a quad setup, although it’s housed in a very similar looking camera island.

The Oppo A54 5G has a 48 MP main sensor, a couple of 2 MP snappers (we assume one is macro one is a depth sensor), as well as an 8 MP camera which is most likely an ultrawide. The selfie shooter is 16 MP. Like the A93 5G, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 480 chipset.

The phone has a 6.5-inch 1080×2400 LCD touchscreen and a 5,000 mAh battery, and these specs match the A93 5G, however the A54 may not have 90 Hz refresh rate. The new device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, both downgrades from the A93 5G – but that’s to be expected considering the A54 5G’s naming implies it will also be cheaper. The phone runs Android 11 with ColorOS 11 on top.

The Oppo A54 5G will become available in Japan in June, in Fantastic Purple and Silver Black (at least that’s what Google Translate thinks the hues will be called, we wouldn’t bet on the second one being very accurate, though even stranger color names have been a thing in the past).
