OnePlus seems to be going through a phase of instability as reports online suggest that the company may have cancelled the OnePlus Open 2 and the OnePlus 15s. Moreover, the company may have also delayed its upcoming OnePlus Nord 6 launch. Here’s what we know about the development.
Posts from tipster Yogesh Brar on X suggest that the OnePlus Open 2 has been cancelled. While the device was expected to debut in early Q3 of this year, the company has scrapped the device altogether, along with the OnePlus 15s. The 15s was supposed to be the successor to the OnePlus 13s which was the brand’s compact flagship for 2025 but as per Brar, there’s a “90% chance” that it has been cancelled.
The OnePlus Open 2 could debut in the form of Oppo Find N6 but only in select markets. A Smartprix report suggests that the device was coming with a 8.12-inch 2K main folding screen and a 6.6-inch AMOLED cover display, both of which will come with a 165Hz refresh rate. It may have been powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
There was a 50MP camera setup on the rear with an ultra-wide angle and telephoto sensors. It also would have come equipped with a 32MP selfie camera on the cover and a 20MP sensor on the inner display. Lastly, the Open 2 featured a 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support.
While OnePlus itself confirmed last year that it won’t launch a foldable in 2025, it seems like a similar situation could take place this year.
As for the 15s, Brar earlier tipped that the device had entered the testing phase and could debut by February in India but OnePlus seems to have changed those plans where there’s a 90% chance that the device has been cancelled.
If that wasn’t enough, OnePlus has also delayed the OnePlus Nord 6 launch which was supposed to debut by March this year. Again, there’s no word on the new launch timeline.
All three devices in question have had successful predecessors which leads us to believe that something major is happening at OnePlus which is leading to the cancellation and delays. One of the factors could be the RAM shortage that has been adversely affecting the smartphone industry and other industries relying on DDR RAM. Whatever the case may be, OnePlus seems to be in turmoil as continues to find a better direction for its launches.
