Don’t expect to see a OnePlus 8T Pro announced alongside the standard OnePlus 8T next month, Android Authority reports. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau (or Liu Zuohu as he’s known in China) confirmed the news via a post on Weibo, in which he said anyone looking for a Pro device can continue to buy the OnePlus 8 Pro released earlier this year. However, Lau added that the company still has some surprises in store during its One Plus 8T reveal, scheduled for October 14th.
OnePlus first introduced a Pro version of its phones with last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro, which was the premium alternative to the OnePlus 7. The company followed them up with the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro later in the year. However, while the standard OnePlus 7T got a big upgrade by inheriting the 7 Pro’s high refresh rate display, the 7T Pro’s improvements felt much more incremental. It was still a good phone, but it barely had anything that differentiated it from its predecessor.

This year, rather than seeing a more premium device announced alongside the OnePlus 8T, it looks like it could be joined by a new midrange phone. The OnePlus Nord Instagram account has just posted the hashtag #ComingSoon, suggesting we could soon see the announcement of the rumored sub-$400 OnePlus Nord N10 5G, a follow-up to the original OnePlus Nord. The new Nord will reportedly be released in the US, unlike the original which only came to Europe and India.
As a reminder, OnePlus has already confirmed the upcoming 8T will feature a 120Hz refresh rate display (same as the 8 Pro) and 65W fast charging. (Unfortunately, OnePlus has also already confirmed that the 8 Pro’s wireless charging feature is not trickling down to the 8T.) Android Central reports that the new device will have a quad camera array featuring wide-angle, ultrawide, macro, and portrait sensors, too.
