OnePlus Ace 2, Buds Ace debut in China

OnePlus launched the OnePlus Ace in China last April, and today the company unveiled its successor, dubbed OnePlus Ace 2.

The OnePlus Ace 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and runs Android 13-based ColorOS 13 out of the box. It comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, but it doesn’t have a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

The OnePlus Ace 2 is built around a 6.74″ 2,772×1,240-pixel AMOLED screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (40Hz-120Hz). The display has a peak brightness of 1,450 nits with support for 1.07 billion colors and HDR10+. The screen is protected by Asahi Glass and has a centered punch hole for the 16MP selfie camera. There’s also a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication.

The Ace 2’s back panel is reminiscent of the OnePlus 11. It uses an “exclusive silk glass technology” and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, with the triple camera setup comprising 50MP primary (with OIS), 8MP ultrawide (120°), and 2MP macro units.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered smartphone features an alert slider and has a 5,177mm² large eight-channel vapor chamber cooling area for sustained performance. It also has 12 antennas that provide 360° coverage for stable, fast network connectivity.

The smartphone comes with HyperBoost 2.0 game frame stabilization engine to ensure a stable frame rate during gaming. OnePlus says the Ace 2 can run 100+ games at 120 FPS, but we don’t have the complete list yet.

Fueling the entire package is a 5,000 mAh battery, advertised to go from 1% to 100% in 25 minutes with the bundled 100W SuperVOOC adapter. OnePlus claims the effective battery life of the cell will be more than 80% after 1,600 discharge cycles, achieved with the help of the SuperVOOC S power management chip.

The rest of the OnePlus Ace 2’s highlights include IR Blaster, USB-C, NFC, and 5G connectivity. It also comes with dual speakers and Dolby Atmos.

The OnePlus Ace 2 is offered in blue and black colors and has three memory options – 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/512GB priced at CNY2,799, CNY3,099, and CNY3,499, respectively. The Ace 2 is up for pre-orders in China through the company’s official Chinese website, with sales slated to commence on February 13.

The OnePlus Buds Ace come with BassWave EQ, which intelligently analyzes the sound source and dynamically compensates for some weak low-frequency sound sources. The TWS earphones also have three sound presets – Balanced (default), Crisp, and Clear – but you also have the option to customize the EQ to your liking if you want.

OnePlus advertises up to 7 hours of music playback with AAC codec, 50% volume, and ANC turned off, which goes up to 36 hours when paired with the charging case. With ANC turned on, total music playback time reduces to 5 hours and 27 hours, respectively.

With the ANC enabled, you get up to 3.5 hours of battery life, which can go up to 17 hours with the charging case.

Once the earphones run out of juice, a quick 10-minute top-up should give you 5 hours of playback.
