Google released Android 13 almost two months ago, and today OnePlus has a new big Android update of its own to send to the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro. But it’s not Android 13, instead we’re talking about Android 12, a version that’s already more than a year old. Better late than never?
The Chinese company started beta testing Android 12 for the aforementioned four phones a few weeks back, and now those who were part of that process are starting to receive the final update. This means that people who were not in the beta group should also receive the Android 12 update in the coming days and weeks.
The build is labeled H.28 for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, and F.16 for the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. The update comes with the August 2022 security patch level, which is a joke at this point, already being two months old.
The new software arrives as OxygenOS 12.1 and it represents a complete visual overhaul for these models, bringing a ton of new things, including a three-level dark mode, new style options for Cards in Shelf, the new Smart Battery Engine which uses algorithms to prolong your battery life, new app icons, an overall system-wide optimization of the presentation of text and color, support for blocking spam MMS, and the HyperBoost end-to-end frame rate stabilizer for games.
Work Life Balance is now available to all users, including quickly switching between Work and Life with a Quick Settings toggle, and there’s support for automatic switching too, based on specific locations, a Wi-Fi network, or time. Gallery now lets you switch between layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, while Canvas AOD has new styles of lines and colors, new brushes and strokes, and improved face recognition.
