Nothing is now rolling out a new update for Nothing Phone (4a) which also happens to be its first one, where the company is adding new features like depth effect for the lock screen clock, live updates visibility across the system like on the Always-on display, and more. Here’s everything the update has to offer.
The update does add a few new enhancements but some of these were already present in the device out of the box, even before the update shipped. The full changelog of the update, also describing features available in Nothing OS 4.1, includes:
New Features
- Breathing Break widgets are now available in the widget drawer, offering guided exercises to help you follow a breathing pace and relax.
- Live Updates now work across various scenes, such as the lock screen, notification panel, and Glyph Interface, tracking real-time progress from apps, like Google Maps, just at a glance.
- The status bar now displays the dedicated icon of Nothing headphones when connected.
Glyph Interface
- Essential Notifications settings Ul has been reworked with a cleaner look and descriptions for easier use.
- Generative ringtone is now available, offering more unique sounds and Glyph patterns for Ringtones and Notifications.
Essential Al Tools
- Essential Apps now features a recommendation section in the widget drawer, providing quicker access to the Nothing Playground to discover Al-powered community creations.
- The Essential Space interface has been refined for a cleaner look and better accessibility, featuring newly introduced For You and Library sections.
- Introducing Events in Essential Space: a fresh way to organise and categorise actions you need to take.
- Added search functionality within Essential Space to help you find content more quickly.

Visual Enhancements
- Introduced the lock screen clock face from Phone (3a) Community Edition, co-created with the community member Jad Zock, featuring an exclusive typeface style and unique waking-up effect.
- Lock screen customisation now supports Depth effect (Beta) and adjustable clock face sizes and alignments.
- Updated the lock screen Password page with wallpaper blur effect.
- Dual network signals are now integrated into a single status bar icon for a cleaner look.
Camera Enhancements
- New Presets: Introduced the India-exclusive ‘Cricket’ preset/watermark, and ‘Amber’ portrait preset.
- Playground Sync: One-tap import of presets from Playground directly into the Camera app. Power saving recording: Screen auto-dims during idle video recording to save battery life, toggleable in Camera settings.
- Image Quality: Enhanced exposure, colour accuracy, and HDR processing.
General Improvements and Bug Fixes
- Optimised Dual-SIM instructions for better clarity and ease of use.
- Enhanced overall network stability.
- Enhanced overall system stability and smoothness.
- Fixed some abnormal display issues in Quick Settings and the status bar.
- Updated to March 2026 security patch.

The update is currently rolling out worldwide in batches, so it may take a while for your unit to get it. The update weighs in at around 257MB. As of now, it is unclear when the Nothing OS 4.1 update will reach other Nothing models like its flagship Phone (3), last year’s Phone (3a) series, CMF Phone 2 Pro, and more.
