Nokia 3 V is headed to Verizon on August 23, yours for just $168

HMD Global today announced the Nokia 3 V, its first ever device that will be offered by Verizon on post-paid plans. This builds upon how successful the Nokia 2 V has been on prepaid. The carrier will exclusively sell the handset in blue from August 23 in select stores and online. The Nokia 3 V will be yours for just $168 full retail, or 24 monthly installments of $7.

The device runs Android 9 Pie and HMD Global guarantees it will receive 18 months of security patches and two OS upgrades. So for an investment of $168 you won’t just be getting Android Q, but also Android R next year. That’s a very interesting proposition in this price range.

Understandably though, the specs are nothing to write home about. The Nokia 3 V features a 6.26″ 720p+ touchscreen, the Snapdragon 429 SoC at the helm, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a notification light embedded in the power button. There’s a dedicated Google Assistant key too, including a walkie-talkie mode in which it will listen to you until you release the button for long sentence queries.

Although HMD Global’s press release doesn’t mention other specs, this phone seems to be a rebranded Nokia 3.2. If that is in fact the case, then expect the Nokia 3 V to sport a 4,000 mAh battery, a microSD card slot, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP selfie snapper.
