Nikon U.K. has announced that as it attempts to navigate changes brought about by Brexit, it will be halting new orders until further notice. The company originally stated it was ceasing all orders and shipments, but has recently clarified its position.
Over the weekend, as reported by Nikon Rumors, Nikon U.K. published a note stating that it would be “temporarily pausing shipping to the UK.” That notification is still visible at the top of the page on Nikon.co.uk and as an elaborated alert further down the page:
“Please note that, as we navigate the changes brought on by Brexit, we will temporarily not be taking any new orders,” the company writes. “If you have already placed an order with us, we are working hard to ensure your order arrives as soon as possible. Thank you for bearing with us during this time.”
Nikon has waffled back and forth since the original posting on what this actually will mean for consumers.
A new note was published to store.nikon.uk – a different website than nikon.co.uk – that promises that existing orders will be shipping as soon as possible:
“Please note that, as we navigate the changes brought on by Brexit, we will temporarily not be taking any new orders,” it reads. “If you have already placed an order with us, we are working hard to ensure your order arrives as soon as possible.”
According to Amateur Photographer, the company this morning attempted to clarify the situation.
“Nikon has commenced shipments to our trade/retail partners, with a regular shipment schedule in place,” Nikon U.K. told Amatuer Photographer. “Naturally, we may incur potential delays at the border as the new process takes force, however we remain committed to minimizing delays within our own processes.”
Though orders are currently offline from the Nikon UK store, this should be resolved soon.
“Please note that, as we navigate the changes brought on by Brexit, we have temporarily suspended orders on our own Nikon Store, however we expect this to reopen shortly. Customers who have already placed an order with Nikon via the Nikon Store should rest assured that their order will still be processed and should expect their order to arrive as soon as possible. We appreciate our customer’s patience during this time.”
It appears that the larger Nikon company is shipping products to distributors and retail partners, but orders placed specifically through its online store are the ones currently hung in limbo. It is unclear what this means as far as a specific delay for those who have already placed orders through the Nikon U.K. store.
