Nikon partners with Nissin, Profoto for future collaboration on speedlights, studio lighting gear

Nikon Australia has announced it’s planning to collaborate with Nissin and Profoto on future speedlight and studio lighting products in an effort to improve functionality and compatibility with Nikon’s ecosystem.

As Nikon notes in its press release, embedded below, ‘Nissin Japan Ltd. is a speedlight manufacturer with a history of over 60 years since its establishment in 1959 [and] Profoto AB is the world’s leading manufacturer of lighting equipment for professional photographers.’ Both companies have released Nikon-compatible products over the years, but Nikon says its goal with this new collaboration is to ‘further increase reliable options for Nikon camera users, expanding possibilities for imaging expression.’

No further details have been provided at this time, but it seems clear Nikon is hoping for more tightly-integrated compatibility and control when using Nissin and Profoto lighting equipment with its current and future lineup of Nikon camera systems.
