Nikon developing MC-N10 remote grip for Z-mount cameras

In addition to the announcement of its new 2.0 firmware for is Z9 mirrorless camera, Nikon has also revealed it’s developing a new remote grip that shows just how serious the company is getting about the video capabilities of its Z-mount cameras.

The Nikon MC-N10 is an accessory that connects to Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras via USB-C and remotely duplicates a range of camera controls. On the front of the grip is an on/off button, a shutter release, [REC] button, an ISO button an exposure compensation button, a command dial and a pair of function buttons on the grip itself. On the rear of the remote grip is a second command dial, a joystick for navigating and controlling AF points, an AF-ON button, an Info button, a Display button, magnify in/out buttons, a memory button and a review/playback button.

Collectively these give let you access to essentially all the control points you’d encounter on a Nikon Z camera, arranged in a familiar pattern.

The grip uses a non-locking ARRI-style rosette mount for attaching to various cages and rigs, which enables it to be angled to fit your ergonomic needs. The company hasn’t detailed which models the grip will be compatible with.

Nikon says pricing and availability information will come ‘at a later date.’

The MC-N10 is an accessory that allows remote control of Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras via a wired connection. It can control various functions of Nikon mirrorless cameras, increasing the efficiency of video recording with a small crew and expanding the possibilities of video recording.
