Meizu will unveil a new phone tomorrow, could be the Meizu 18x with Snapdragon 870

The Meizu 18 and 18 Pro were unveiled in March, both with Snapdragon 888 chipsets, and became available for international shipping later that same month. The company is working on a refresh as the Meizu 18s and 18s Pro cropped up on TENAA. Then, a couple of weeks ago, we also heard of a Meizu 18x with a 4,200 mAh battery and 36W fast charging.

We bring it up because the company posted this video on Weibo, clearly teasing the arrival of an X model. In another post Meizu wrote “see you tomorrow”, which sets the unveiling date for the new phone.

The Meizu 18x is expected to use a Snapdragon 870 chipset, while the 18s duo will upgrade to the Snapdragon 888+. The 18x and 18s should have a triple 64+16+8 MP camera setup, the 18x Pro should keep the premium 50+32+8+0.3 MP setup of its predecessor (that 50 MP unit is a large 1/1.3” sensor with OIS).

Will the 18x be joind by its 18s siblings in tomorrow’s unveiling? Perhaps. Meizu also teased the return of the affordable Meilan series, which has been inactive for a while.
