Maingear introduces Pro AI PC workstations for LLM training

Maingear announced today that it’s collaborating with Phison on a new line of workstations: The Pro AI workstations built with Phison’s aiDAPTIV+ tech. The purpose of the workstations is to offer a cost-effective option for small and medium-sized businesses to develop and train large language models at speed. The workstations can be customized to suit certain needs, but there are three preconfigured variants: The Shodan 64 (MSRP $28,000), the Shodan 96 ($37,000) and the Shodan 192 ($60,000).

All three of the preconfigured units boast multiple Nvidia GPUs and Intel Xeon CPUs. According to Maingear, they’re ideal for working offices due to their built-in noise dampening and compact size comparable to a standard desktop. The builds also incorporate caching SSDs to optimize resources for AI development. Maingear also notes that the workstations offer AI training outside of the cloud, the better for users to safeguard their data.

Wallace Santos, Maingear founder and CEO, said in a statement, “Maingear’s Pro AI workstations, driven by Phison AiDAPTIV+, empower users with large language model AI training prowess without excessive costs. Our dedication to crafting highly capable yet budget-friendly solutions guarantees SMBs, universities, and research facilities a competitive advantage in an industry formerly restricted by multimillion-dollar investments.”
