Lucid Air nabs Guinness World Record for longest distance traveled by an EV on a single charge [Video]

Guinness World Record Trip Demonstrates EV Innovation

American EV automaker Lucid Motors has demonstrated another lesson in premium efficiency. Earlier this week, Lucid took a Grand Touring version of its flagship Air sedan on a Guinness World Record-setting trip from Switzerland to Germany, showcasing the capabilities of its technology while providing more evidence that all-electric models are the future of long-distance travel.

As a news writer focused on electric mobility, the question I get most often is, “What’s the best EV?” While the answer to that broad question is subjective and usually depends on several factors, one of the automakers I always mention in my list is Lucid Motors.

Sure, I’m a fan of the Air, especially its newest model, the Gravity SUV, but my reason for such respect for the American automaker isn’t its luxury or its styling. Lucid’s technology is arguably unmatched in the entire industry, at least in the US.

Lucid’s first all-electric model, the Air, is a vital lesson in efficiency that its competitors should study. Lucid has created all of its own powertrain components that optimize size and weight to deliver the most range for battery capacity. One year ago, Lucid shared that the 2025 version of its lowest-priced Air Pure offered an energy efficiency rate of 5 miles per kWh, making it the most efficient car in the world.

The elevation change between St. Moritz and Munich is a decrease of roughly 1,336 meters (4,383 feet) as you travel from St. Moritz to Munich.

Keep that in mind here. But it’s still a great distance.

That same technology is present in all four current versions of the Lucid Air, including the Grand Touring, which just secured a Guinness World Record by traveling over 1,200 kilometers on a single charge.

Lucid Air Grand Touring secures Guinness World Record

Lucid Motors took to social media to tout its Guinness World Record, which was achieved in an Air Grand Touring with Entrepreneur Umit Sabanci behind the wheel. Per the post on X, the Lucid Air Grand Touring traveled from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany on a single charge, traversing 1,205 km, or 749 miles.

For context, the EPA estimated range of the 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring is 512 miles—one of the best in the industry. With the help of Sabanci and the Lucid team, the Air Grand Touring was able to push its endurance to a mind-boggling 237 additional miles while the Guinness World Records team monitored.
