Samsung Galaxy S26 series price hike likely won’t happen even though its on the cards for smartphones from all manufacturers due to RAM shortage across the industry. The same publication that reported about the price hike also suggests that Samsung is planning an event for February end to launch the S26 series worldwide.
The ongoing industry-wide RAM shortage is expected to push manufacturers toward raising product prices as component costs continue to climb. However, Samsung may absorb these increases-at least for its flagship lineup. According to a South Korean publication’s report, the Galaxy S26 series price hike is unlikely to be implemented. The publication describes it as “a bold move to simultaneously protect market share and profitability by defending sales volume instead of raising prices.”
In other words, Samsung is trying to keep the prices steady to maintain sales and stay competitive, rather than increasing prices to protect its profits. Moreover, Apple also seems to have played a major role in this move of Samsung’s, as it kept the same starting prices for its base iPhone 17 in the US while introducing upgrades. For Samsung, it is important to compete with Apple in the premium smartphone segment with competitive prices.

An industry insider told the publication, “Even if the cost of components rises, there is a possibility that demand for premium smartphones will shift if the price range perceived by consumers rises,” adding, “They probably calculated that instead of maintaining the price range, adjusting the specifications and cost structure would be more effective in retaining consumers.”
In Samsung’s case, however, the upgrades in the base Galaxy S26 model may not be as compelling as the iPhone 17. The device is expected to get a bigger 4300mAh battery and a newer Chipset over its predecessor and that’s about it. The Plus model is expected to sport only an upgraded chipset. The major upgrades are likely to be reserved for the Ultra model.
The company may, however, increase the prices of some of its A-series phones instead of the flagships’.
Aside from the Galaxy S26 series price hike information, the report finally adds that Samsung is planning a launch event for February 25 which is a month later than when S25 series was launched last year. This delay was probably caused due to last-minute changes in the lineup where the S26 Edge was scrapped in favour of the Galaxy S26 Plus.
