Lawyer Accidentally Uses Cat Camera Filter During Zoom Court Session

Camera filters have become all the rage in our social media and Snapchat age, but when funny filters accidentally get mixed with not-so-funny live Zoom meetings, hilarity can ensue. That’s what happened recently when a lawyer in a Zoom court session found himself stuck with a cat’s face.

Lawyer Rod Ponton was attending a civil forfeiture case hearing yesterday in Texas’ 394th Judicial District Court when he found himself replaced by a cat’s face.

“Mr. Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings,” the judge tells the bewildered attorney, who immediately asked his assistant to help turn off the filter.

“I don’t know how to remove it,” Ponton says. “I’ve got my assistant here and she’s trying to. I’m prepared to go forward with it.”

And just in case the judge isn’t aware, Ponton adds:

“I’m here live. I’m not a cat.”

The short exchange was soon posted to the court’s official YouTube channel, and it has subsequently been going viral around the Web and world, and it’s yet another humorous example of what working professionals may have to deal with when working through video calls remotely during COVID-19 lockdowns.
