Laowa Adds 11mm f/4.5 for Canon RF and 65mm f/2.8 Macro for Nikon Z

Venus Optics is continuing to add support for more mounts and today the 11mm f/4.5 FF RL (full-frame rectilinear) lens is available for Canon RF mount and the Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO is available for Nikon Z mount.

The Laowa 11mm f/4.5 FF RL was previously available for Leica M-mount, L-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Sony E-mount and completes its mirrorless full-frame support with the addition of Canon RF today. The lens is a compact rectilinear wide-angle lens with a wide 126-degree angle of view with a 19 centimeter (~7.5 inches) minimum focusing distance. Laowa says it designed the lens to capture landscape, travel, and cityscape images without the “burden” or a large, obtrusive lens.

Below are a few sample images taken with the lens, but not specifically with the Canon RF mount. Venus Optics/Laowa did not provide images that were specifically of the RF version of the lens nor did the company provide images taken with a Canon RF camera. The images below were captured on the Nikon Z6. Still, the optical characteristics of the lens should still be noted and would be expected to perform identically on a Canon camera.

The Laowa 11mm f/4.5 FF RL is available for $699 in all but Leica M-Mount, which is $799, from the Venus Optics online store.

The Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO was previously available for Canon EF-M, Fuji X-mount, and Sony E-mount with Nikon Z-mount added today. This lens is for APS-C format cameras and Laowa claims it is the only macro lens on the market capable of producing 2x life-size images. It is an Apochromitic optic that suppresses the chromatic aberration at both the in and out of focus areas while promising great detail reproduction from the center to the corners even wide open.

As with the 11mm f/4.5, Venus Optics/Laowa did not provide any images specifically taken with a Nikon Z camera using this new lens nor did the company provide images that specifically show the lens with its new mount. The images below were captured on a mix of Fujifilm and Sony cameras, though performance should be the same regardless of camera.

The Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO is available for $399.
