McMurtry Automotive has confirmed that production of its insane, record-setting, upside-down driving all-electric Spéirling PURE fan hypercar is underway — but if you’re worried about pulling up next to yourself at a stoplight, don’t be: this one’s a limited edition.
The impossibly fast McMurtry Spéirling PURE electric fan car that first wowed crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed two years ago back in 2022 made a lot of progress since. For one, it’s shattered records on this side of the pond, too, racing at the third annual Reverse Corkscrew Hillclimb. And, for another, it’s proven that it can, in fact, drive upside-down, settling that long-standing bar brawl once and for all.
And now, for the cool, cool price of just 1.36 million US American dollars (or £995,000, to take exchange rates out of this), one of the just 100 examples of McMurtry Automotive’s bantamweight Batmobile can be yours.
I remember this
If all this sounds familiar, that’s because we first announced McMurtry’s production plans back in 2023, when the car was allegedly less than a year away from a limited production run. But as they say, “man plans, God laughs,” and the passing of the company’s namesake, Sir David McMurtry, in 2024 put a halt to all of it.
Thankfully for the automotive community, Sir David’s sons have committed to carrying on his work, establishing McMurtry Technology in the original Swinhay House estate, which will be focused on commercializing the intellectual property, technology, processes, expertise, and overall engineering approach that has earned McMurtry a formidable reputation as an engineering firm.

McMurtry says it has a number of high-profile clients generating annual revenues in the 7 figures, highlighting the global demand for McMurtry’s technology.
Production of the mind-bending, 1,000 hp hypercar is already underway at the new facility, and the first owner is set to take delivery this summer.
