Infinix’ Android 16-based XOS 16 Announced: Features, Availability

Infinix’ Android-16 based XOS 16 has been announced in India and the company says that the “OS brings together AI-driven productivity tools, hardware-aware battery management, resilient touch systems, and pro-grade gaming technologies, all within a cleaner, more intuitive interface that helps users stay focused and in control throughout the day.”

Infinix XOS 16: Features

XOS 16 brings a fresh focus on personalization and AI features, where users get more ways to customise their devices, with new wallpaper formats and AI tools that can generate themes and backgrounds from scratch. The updated Depth Effect helps the lock screen and home screen flow together visually, while options range from anime-style designs and doodles to AI-generated portraits.

On the productivity side, XOS 16 leans heavily on AI. Features like One-Tap FlashMemo can turn quick notes into actions such as events, calls, or routes. Tools like Ask Folax and Mind Hub help store and organize ideas, while AI Writing suggests improvements for messages. The system also learns usage patterns over time and surfaces apps or suggestions through a quick AI panel.

For content consumption, XOS 16 includes tools aimed at saving time and battery. YouTube Summary provides quick highlights of videos, and a Video Battery Saver mode is designed to reduce power drain during long streaming sessions.

Cross-device sharing is another focus. Touch Transfer for iPhone uses NFC to move photos – including Live Photos – between devices without needing an internet connection, as long as a companion App is installed on the iPhone.

Battery health gets attention too, with features like Bypass Charging that can power the phone directly during heavy use when connected to a charger to reduce heat, and a Battery Self-Repair feature is designed to slow down battery aging over time.

XOS 16 also includes features aimed at real-world use. Motion Sickness Relief Mode is meant to make phone use more comfortable during travel, while touch optimization improves screen responsiveness in rain or when hands are sweaty.

Security updates include a Remote Enable Find My Device option that keeps tracking active even if the SIM is removed, helping in loss or theft situations.

For gaming, the update adds tools like frame interpolation for smoother visuals, along with AI-based enhancements for control and immersion. Features like Voice commands and a voice changer are included, and a dedicated gaming space called Gameshift is also planned.

Infinix XOS 16: Availability

XOS 16 will arrive on upcoming Infinix smartphones first, with a phased rollout for eligible existing devices expected later. The list of eligible devices will be shared soon as per the brand.

Infinix’s latest device, the Note Edge 5G, comes with Android 16-based XOS 16 out of the box.
