Honor officially confirms the Honor 30S will use the Kirin 820 chipset, talks about its 5G modem

Huawei officially confirmed that the Honor 30S will use the new Kirin 820 5G chipset and offered some details on the next generation connectivity that will improve user experience when using 5G networks.

First off, the modem will use less power while transmitting more data thanks to AI scheduling algorithms. Huawei also boasts about “industry-leading” interference suppression tech that will ensure a stable, high-bandwidth connection even in densely populated areas.

The stability of the connection will be further enhanced by the modem’s ability to quickly find and switch over to new base stations.

Honor officially confirms the Honor 30S will use the Kirin 820 chipset, talks about its 5G modem

The Kirin 820 modem will support dual-SIM phones, allowing one card to handle a VoLTE call while the other uses 5G data. Also, if one card is busy with a VoLTE call, the other will not miss additional incoming calls.

So far the company hasn’t confirmed the rumor of the Mali-G77 GPU – this would be a first for HiSilicon as even the top of the line Kirin 990 5G uses G76 cores. The chipset is also expected support 40W fast charging and other goodies. We guess Honor and Huawei are saving these details for March 30 when the Honor 30S will be announced.
