Fujifilm’s Instax Mini Link 2 Smartphone Printer Lets You Draw on Prints

Fujifilm has announced the Instax Mini Link 2 Smartphone Printer and free Mini Link 2 downloadable app that turns your smartphone images into Instax Mini Prints.

The updated printer and app feature a variety of new features that the company says are designed to encourage creativity in its users by including customizable frames and image color modes that will help enhance the mood of an image. This includes the addition of the new INSTAXAiR feature which allows the smartphone printer to be a tool to draw and add graphics “in the air” and apply the effects directly to the printed image

INSTAXAiR allows users to add graphics to their image prints like bubbles, petals, neon, spray paint, or a glitter look by holding the Mini Link 2, pressing the feature button on top, and aiming the side LED to draw in the air. Whatever users draw will then be applied to the print preview in-app. Once the user is happy with the look, the additions will be added to the print itself.

Users can even record a video of the drawing being made and share the moment as a printable QR code that appears on the print. The QR code can be scanned to view the video, download it, or share it directly on social media.

The updated INSTAX Mini 2 printer improves on the already compact and lightweight design and transfers images from a user’s smartphone and starts printing in about 15 seconds. The new printer can support continuous printing and is capable of producing about 100 INSTAX Mini prints (via Bluetooth) per full battery charge.

Users can further enhance their image prints by adjusting the brightness, saturation, and contrast of their images, as well as combining up to eight images into a single INSTAX print collage using the collage feature in the app.
