Fujifilm has released a collection of new firmware updates for its X-A5, X-A7, X-H1, X-T100 and X-T200 APS-C mirrorless cameras. While the updates are rather minor, they do fix various bugs and address a few other issues pertaining to certain Tamron lenses.

Starting first with the smallest update, firmware version 2.14 for the Fujifilm X-H1 improves wireless communication between the the camera and its Fujifilm Camera Remote mobile application, particularly when in a crowded WiFi environment.

As for the remaining four cameras, each firmware update addresses the same problems. Firmware version 2.03 for the X-A5, version 1.33 for the X-A7, version 2.03 for the X-T100 and version 1.16 for the X-T200 fix an issue that caused these cameras to work incorrectly when certain third-party X-mount lenses were attached. Specifically, Fujifilm says it’s it’s addressed the following two issues when shooting with Tamron’s 17–70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD and 18–300mm F3.5–6.3 Di III-A VC VXD lenses:

  • When shooting with “High-speed Burst” function at “AF-C” setting, it becomes out-of-focus using TAMRON:17–70mm F/2.8 Di Ⅲ-A VC RXD (Model B070) with the above models.
  • When zooming from the T end to the W end, the “hunting” occurs in the pre-view screen, which affects movies as well as still photos recorded in this condition using TAMRON:18–300mm F/3.5–6.3 Di III-A VC VXD (Model B061) with the above models.’

These four firmware updates also address ‘other minor bugs’ that affect each of these cameras. It’s interesting that Fujifilm is specifically pushing out a firmware update that addresses issues with third-party lenses. While not necessarily unheard of, it does suggest Fujifilm is doesn’t mind users shooting with third-party glass, as opposed to treating them as second-class citizens.
