DxOMark re-tests the iPhone 11, gets a much higher score

DxOMark recently changed its testing protocol and is now doing the fourth version of the said protocol. This means that some of the devices deemed relevant will go through the new round of testing because the overall score changes too. Not to mention the software improvements manufacturers introduce over time can have a big effect.

DxOMark re-tests the iPhone 11, gets a much higher score

Anyway, the iPhone 11 was recently re-tested and the overall score shot up quite significantly from 109 to 119 points overtaking some of the 2020 flagships like the Samsung Samsung Galaxy S20+ and the OnePlus 8 Pro in DxOMark’s ranking. Although, the Galaxy S20+ has been tested on the older protocol.

The bottom line is that the iPhone 11 is still a capable shooter a year later, offering excellent photo and video quality with little left to be desired. The stills offer accurate exposure, good color reproduction, excellent detail even indoors and an ultra-wide camera performance that few can boast about. However, DxOMark wasn’t too happy with the zoom quality, which is understandable given the lack of a telephoto lens. Ringing artifacts and overexposed flash portraits at night keep DxOMark from giving the iPhone 11 a higher score.

When it comes to video quality, DxOMark cites the same advantages along with effective stabilization. However, there’s a visible jello effect when recording while walking and indoor scenes throw off the white balance and exposure metering.
