Cosina unveils $700 Voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1.2 for Fujifilm X system cameras

Cosina has announced its new Voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1.2 lens for Fujifilm X series camera systems. While this lens features the same focal length and aperture as its M-mount equivalent, it features a different optical design and construction specifically for Fujifilm’s X mount cameras.

The fully-manual lens features an electronic chip for transferring EXIF data to the camera body from the lens, which should enable focus verification, parallax correction and in-body image stabilization for compatible cameras. Below is a pair of charts showing which X system cameras are and aren’t able to make use of the lens mount communications of the Nokton 35mm F1.2 lens:

The lens is constructed of eight elements in six groups. It uses a 12-blade aperture diaphragm, has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm (1ft) and has an aperture range of F1.2 through F16. As for size, it measures 60mm (2.4”) in diameter by 40mm (1.5”) long and weighs 196g (7oz). Below is a sample gallery of images captured with the lens, provided by Cosina:

The lens is scheduled to be released next month (August 2021) for 78,000 Japanese Yen, which converts to just over $700.
