Canon RF 24-50mm goes to New Orleans

Canon RF 24-50mm

We recently had the chance to put the Canon RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM through its paces both on the full-frame EOS R8 and on the APS-C EOS R7. With a 38-80mm equiv. field of view on crop-sensor bodies, it’s a bit of an awkward walk-around lens but on a full-frame RF body it’s a classic wide-to-standard kit zoom.

Its maximum aperture range is dreadfully slow; nevertheless, if you have enough light it’s fast-to-focus, well-stabilized, and produces pleasantly sharp images. It also won’t weigh you down thanks to a mostly-plastic collapsible design. Samples in this gallery were processed with Adobe Camera Raw instead of Capture One because of compatibility issues.
