Canon announces two new PIXMA all-in-one wireless photo printers

Canon has announced a pair of new PIXMA inkjet printers, the Canon PIXMA TS3520 Wireless All-in-One Printer and the Canon PIXMA G620 Wireless MegaTank Photo Printer.

Canon PIXMA TS3520 Wireless All-in-One Printer

The Canon PIXMA TS3520 is aimed at new Canon printer users and students. The PIXMA TS3520 promises ease of use, an improved user experience, and a simple set-up process thanks to a web-based, user-paced navigation manual for getting up and running with the TS3520. Compared to its predecessor, the TS3320, Canon promises that it will be easier and quicker to start printing with the new TS3520.

Additional key features of the TS3520 printer includes a four-color ink system, rear tray paper feeding, wireless connectivity via the user’s compatible smart device, a 1.5″ LCD screen to monitor the printer’s status and mobile printing capabilities via AirPrint and Mopria Print Service. Regarding smart device compatibility, the user’s device must run Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app and be connected to the same network. The application is available on Android and iOS.

The TS3520 can print, copy and scan and includes a compact design, available in black or white. The printer weighs just under 9 lbs. and, with paper installed, is 17.2″ long, 12.9″ wide and 5.8″ in height. The printer’s hybrid ink system promises sharp black text when printing documents and pleasing color prints. The dedicated rear paper tray allows the user to quickly load plain white paper or switch to photo paper for making photo prints. The printer can produce borderless photos up to 5″ x 7″ in size. A borderless 4″ x 6″ photo is said to take approximately 65 seconds to print. The TS3520 has print resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi and uses Canon’s PG-275 pigment black inks and CL-276 dye color inks.

The Canon PIXMA TS3520 will be available in May at an estimated retail price of $79.99.

Canon PIXMA G620 MegaTank Photo Printer

The Canon PIXMA G620 MegaTank Photo Printer is aimed at consumers who want to make high-quality photo prints at home and ‘appreciate the convenience provided by these printers’ continuous ink supply system.’ The new G620 promises a page yield of approximately 3,800 4″ x 6″ color prints, reducing the need for the user to refill ink tanks frequently.

Compared to four-color inkjet printers, like the new TS3520, the PIXMA G620 MegaTank Photo Printer uses six-color dye-based ChromaLife 100 inks, ensuring an expanded color gamut. The 6-color dye-based system includes red and gray inks, promising better overall print quality. While there’s no way to guarantee the life of prints, as there are many variables that influence how long a print lasts, Canon does say that the ChromaLife 100 inks promote archival photo quality.

Based on the cost of Canon’s ink and paper supplies, Canon states that the approximate cost per 4″ x 6″ color photo print with the G620 is around 2.5 cents. A 4″ x 6″ borderless print takes about 47 seconds. If you need larger prints, the printer can make borderless photo prints up to 8.5″ x 11″. Speaking of paper, the printer can use various paper types, including semi-gloss, gloss and matte. The G620 is also compatible with specialized media such as Canon’s Photo Paper Pro Luster, Premium Fine Art Rough, Magnetic Photo Paper, Restickable Photo Paper and Iron-On Transfers.

The all-in-one printer, copier and scanner can handle up to 100 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of 4″ x 6″ or 10 sheets of 5″ x 7″. The PIXMA G620 MegaTank includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, letting you print from almost anywhere in your home using AirPrint and Mopria Print Service. You can also use the free Canon Print App with the G620.

The G620 MegaTank has a relatively small footprint given its media capabilities. With paper installed, the printer’s dimensions (W x D x H) are 17.2″ x 21.8″ x 8.4″. When not in use and without paper loaded, the footprint shrinks to 17.2″ x 12.5″ x 5.8″. The printer weighs 17.4 lbs.
