Canon has announced a pair of RF mount lenses: the RF 24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM and the RF 15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. These optically-stabilized wide-angle lenses are designed for Canon’s entire full-frame and APS-C RF mount camera systems and are set for a late August launch, with pre-orders starting today at participating retailers.

The RF 24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM is a new wide-angle prime constructed of 11 elements in nine groups, including one ultra-low dispersion element and one aspherical element. It features Canon’s Super Spectra Coating (SSC), has a 52mm front filter thread, uses a nine-blade aperture diaphragm and has a minimum focusing distance of just 14cm (5.5″).
The lens will work with both full-frame and APS-C camera systems (where it effectively becomes a 38mm equivalent focal length), such as Canon’s new R7 and R10. The aperture range is F1.8 through F22 and the image stabilization is good for up to 5.5 stops of compensation (6.5 stops when paired with the in-body image stabilization of the EOS R3/R5).
The Canon RF 24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM is currently available to pre-order for $599 from authorized Canon retailers. The first units are expected to ship in ‘late August.’
RF 15–30mm F4.5–6.3 IS STM

Canon has also released the 15–30mm F4.5–6.3 IS STM, an ultra-wide-angle zoom. The lens is constructed of 13 elements in 11 groups, including two ultra-low dispersion elements and on aspherical element. The lens uses Canon’s Super Spectra Coating (SSC), features a 67mm front filter thread, uses a seven-blade aperture diaphragm and has a minimum focusing distance of 28cm (11″) throughout the entire focal range when using AF – 13cm (5.1″) when using manual focus at 15mm.
The lens’ image stabilization is good for up to five stops of image stabilization, but that jumps to seven stops when paired with the in-body image stabilization of the EOS R3/R5.
The Canon RF 15–30mm F4.5–6.3 IS STM is available to pre-order for $549 through authorized Canon retailers. The first units are expected to ship in ‘late August.’
