The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has successfully integrated 42 million car titles onto the Avalanche blockchain network, which uses the cryptocurrency AVAX as its native token. This innovative system, developed by Oxhead Alpha, enables users to transfer vehicle titles within minutes, significantly reducing the traditional two-week processing time. This initiative is part of California’s broader effort to combat fraud and minimize in-person visits to DMV offices, showcasing the state’s commitment to leveraging blockchain technology for improved efficiency and modernized services. Launched in 2020 by Ava Labs, Avalanche is a smart-contract platform that rivals Ethereum, prioritizing scalability and transaction processing speed. AVAX is used to pay transaction fees, secure the network through staking, and participate in governance decisions.
