Crypto’s next era is accelerating as powerhouse networks move to radically boost value capture, igniting surging bullish sentiment across ETH, UNI, and XRP with redesigned economics poised to reshape investor expectations.
Value Capture Momentum Builds Across Major Tokens
Bullish expectations are rising as investors reassess how major crypto networks may rebuild their economic structures. Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan shared on Nov. 22 on social media platform X: “Tokens are getting much better at capturing value.” He covered three examples: UNI, ETH, and XRP. His comments focused on shifting token design and improving value flows across multiple assets.
“The big knock on UNI has always been that it is a governance token. Uniswap is great, but activity on Uniswap didn’t benefit UNI token holders,” Hougan explained, highlighting efforts to rethink that framework as the community evaluates a fee-based mechanism that would redirect a portion of trading activity toward holders. He then turned to Ethereum, stating:
ETH is also taking steps to increase value capture. Specifically, the coming Fusaka upgrade (est. December) significantly increases token value capture. Surprisingly, almost no one is talking about this.
The Bitwise executive added that redesigned data-recording economics for Layer 2s could amplify Ethereum’s revenue profile and reshape investor expectations as the network shifts into the Fusaka era. Hougan also addressed broader interest forming around XRP, remarking: “You see a growing focus on value capture in XRP as well.”

He opined: “The connecting thread: The level of value capture in digital assets is up only from here. I think people look at token value capture as static. It’s not.” Hougan argued that earlier token models were constrained by compliance uncertainty and referenced how these structures may evolve, citing: “Most of today’s tokens were created in a regulatory era where value capture was risky; as a result, they defaulted to vague governance-style design choices.” He concluded:
Under the new regulatory climate, that’s being unwound. I think we’ll start to feel this effect in 2026.
Pro-crypto analysts contend that stronger value-capture mechanisms improve long-term fundamentals, potentially reinforcing network health and expanding institutional participation as markets stabilize.
