Analyst: Apple to delay iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments until October

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 15 series in September, and the Pro Max member of the family will be the first smartphone with a periscope camera. According to one analyst, this feature could now cause a delay as Sony is allegedly unable to supply enough sensors time.

The disruption is likely to push the iPhone 15 Pro Max deliveries back by four weeks as per 9to5Mac, who quoted the “major equity analyst note”.

The Apple iPhone 15 series announcement is likely to take place on September 13, with pre-orders to open on September 15, and deliveries should commence seven days later. However, with the expected three to four-week delay, the Pro Max deliveries could be pushed between October 6 and October 13.

Delays in production are nothing new to Apple – the iPhone XR arrived later than the XS series due to late shipments of components to Pegatron. The same thing happened two years later, when the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max had to make way to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

There were reports that the screen deliveries were behind schedule, as OLED makers LG and BOE weren’t able to keep up with requirements, pushing Apple to increase the demand from Samsung. We haven’t heard anything in the past few weeks, suggesting Cupertino has managed to address the issue.
